MARCH MEETING REPORT:
The March meeting was a good one, with an assigned topic of leaves. 36 folks were in attendance with a total of 80 images being shown.
Member Ralph Gutierrez did an excellent job in leading the meeting. He also showed two very well-produced, short slide shows that he put together using ProShow Gold. Thanks Ralph.
Member Ken Cook gave a report on two recent field trips that were very successful. One was to the Frederik Meijer Gardens, and the other to the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary. He also offered a suggestion to visit a tulip farm as the next group field trip. Contact Ken cook and/or watch for an E-mail for dates and times.
Member Kim DeGlopper provided very delicious cookies for the break. Thanks Kim :-)
On the housekeeping side, Don Williams gave a preliminary report of the member survey that is being done to help lead to better programs and some targeted workshops. If you haven’t completed the survey yet, contact Don Williams for a copy to fill out.
An informal discussion about having our own website someday was held. The outlook is positive so far. Currently there are three websites that are closely related to our club:
1. We share the Club tab part of the Evergreen Commons website, www.evergreencommons.org .
2. Our own Joel DeYoung keeps a blog about us, www.tulipcitycameraclub.blogspot.com
3. And there is one that we share with 18 other area camera clubs. The Southwestern Michigan Council of Camera Clubs, at www.swmccc.org . This council runs the valuable Summer School of Photography and provides an important outlet for the competitive spirit among some with their occasional contests.
If that weren’t enough, a few of our members maintain beautiful websites that show case their work:
Member Ken Cook’s web site can be found at www.kencookphotography.com.
And member John Huenink’s web site can be found at www.photodiscoveries.com .
Check them out. Also check out the links for more local and regional photographers sites.
If you have a site or know of others that have a site, please send a note to Don Williams and we will get them listed.
As a reminder, our next meeting is April 27th, the assignment is Sea Shells. A formal program is also very likely.
As always, Have fun!
